A moving but important visit will allow you to dig below the surface and understand Cambodia better.

Return to central Phnom Penh for lunch at Le Lotus Blanc, a training restaurant for the humanitarian organization Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (for the smile of a child), which provides education and job training to street children that used to be scavenging the municipal dump and gives them skills and hope for a brighter future. A very early start today for one of the highlights of our tour. We travel by TukTuk to experience Sunrise at Angkor Wat Temple, the most wonderful remains of a disappeared civilization which between the 8th and 13th century, built the splendid Temple of Angkor, partially annihilated afterwards by invasion and hidden for centuries by forest. Angkor is the biggest attraction not just for Cambodia but for all over the world. This temple, dedicated to Vishnu, was constructed at the beginning of the twelfth century. It is remarkable for its powerful architecture and for the richness of its sculptures. Dawn is one of the most beautiful and haunting times to visit the temples, whose ancient sandstone blocks are gilded gold by the early morning rays.
Return to the hotel for breakfast then free at leisure.
After lunch at restaurant, we will enjoy a tour in the afternoon to discover more of Angkor Thom (the Great City) including the Southern Gate, Bayon temple, Baphuon temple, Terrace of Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King & Phimean Akas: “Celestial Palace”, dedicated to Hinduism. Then visit the jungle-entwined temple, Ta Prohm – a hauntingly beautiful temple where the roots of giant banyans and strangler figs enfold much of the stonework, creating scenes little changed since the French Adventurer Henri Mouhot re-discovered Angkor in the 1850s. This temple makes the ‘Tomb Raider Temple’ one of the most picturesque and memorable of the Angkor temples.
The guide will meet you at hotel and take a short walk to the Old Market & Pub street area.
After dinner, you will walk back to hotel or by tuk-tuk as option.
Breakfast at the hotel – visit the floating village of Kompong Phhluk of Tonle Sap lake, where we enjoy a boat tour around the village, between the trees breaking through the water surface and soak in the culture of living life on the water. The submerged forest makes this tranquil place unique and is a treat for visitors.
Travel through a number of relatively un-changed villages and learn about the day-to-day lives of the local people. This is a world away from Siem Reap, and provides you with the perfect opportunity to get ‘off the beaten track’. Stop at the village of Krabei Real, where there is time for you to explore the local market. Enjoy Ox cart experience and pass through rice fields, visiting local communities, schools and pagodas for a blessing ritual by Buddhist monks for happiness, prosperity and safety for your journey before returning to your hotel.
Indulge in a scrumptious Cambodian dinner with the classical Apsara dancers depicting scenes from Khmer mythology at local restaurant.
